Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor / DGSA
On
the 1 January 2000 the Government introduced the Carriage of Dangerous
Goods (Safety Advisor) Regulations 1999, this implemented a European
Directive and eventually the same standard will apply to all E.
U. member states. These regulations, commonly referred to as the
DGSA regulations, require all companies who are involved in the
consigning and carriage of dangerous goods to appoint a qualified
Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) by January 1 2000. Companies have
the option to appoint a person within their employment or to use
the services of a DGSA consultant, whichever is chosen must be qualified
by examination arranged by the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
As
a qualified DGSA based in the North West of England, I have been supplying my services as consultant

storage of dangerous goods.
